Roo – the Kangaroo Paw Fairy
Hello! I’m Roo and I’m the Kangaroo Paw Fairy. Did you know the Kangaroo Paw flowers are called that because they look like a Kangaroo’s Paw? The flowers are tall stems with a furry claw shape at the end. They can be cream, green, yellow, orange or red in colour, but the red ones are the ones I like best because they are so bright and colourful in the Australian Bush. The colours of the flowers can be affected by how much sun they get too, so a plant that is in the sun all the time will have very very bright coloured flowers. My plants love the sun! That’s why they start flowering in late winter through summer. The sun this time of year can be getting very hot though, especially in the middle of the day, so I like to take a rest during the hot part of the day under the shade of the flowers. The flowers are a tubular, which means they have a hollow part like a tube which holds sweet nectar for birds and insects to come and drink, and sometimes they wake me up!
